I nevr had a hamster b4 so can u pls tell me the supplies u need for a hamster and how to take good care of it and what u need to take good care of it. Can u also give me sites all about hamsters. Im getting a teddy bear hamster. What is a good begginer hamster? What snacks can i feed it. (chereos, etc..)

THANKS>cutiepatooty

hamsters are probably the easiest pet to take care of, but my worst pet related memories are with my hamsters I had when I was younger. They just weren’t for me. I’m a horse person, lol.

Anyways, you need a cage, bedding, food, water and food dishes (actually the waterer thing), toys, things they can chew on, and anything else you want.
I have my hamster peanuts, cashews, and other nuts. I’m sure you could give it cheerios and other "flavorless" non sugary food like that.

I highly reccomend not keeping your hamster in your room. You won’t get any sleep, trust me. Unless you can ignore their constant noise. =|

My younger sister loved her hamster, but hers didn’t attack her all the time. (My hamster bit a chunk out of my dad’s hand… we named him Spaz.)

Well the only thing that i can tell you is that the salesperson will tell you what you need to get and what cages are good for that type of hamster and what food you might want for him or her and you also will need some treets for the hamster so when ever they’re nice and they don’t bite you, you give them a treet and that will teach them that if their nice that ther will get a treet

Hope this helps! i use these every tiem i get a new pet,but make sure to also do a little more on food/diet bc/ they need more than what is listed normally and don’t listen to the petshop ppl bc/ they don’t have to go through training to sell you an animal normally they make up info as they go as i have expierenced several times on many occasions. Hope you find what your looking for!

. also use care fresh bedding(not cedar!!it will kill them) and clean it once a week. winter white dwarf hamsters are cool because they change color every winter . from grey or black to white that is what i have. i think a teddy bear is a good starter hamster .also i have a few names you might like-

    Dear Cutiepatooty,
Sounds like you have lots of love to give a new little hamster.

Housing • A cage or habitat that is at least 16” x 10”
    • Aspen wood shavings, Soft Sorbent or Total Comfort are recommended as bedding material.

    Habitat Placement
    • Place your hamster’s home away from drafts, an ideal temperature range is 68?F – 70?F. No special lighting is required, room lighting is sufficient with a 12-hour photo period.
    • Hamsters are nocturnal and do most exercising at night; habitat placement in a bedroom might keep a light sleeper awake!

    Enrichment
    • Hamsters must have an exercise wheel.
    • Hamster balls are a great way to provide exercise and enrichment. Be sure to supervise your hammie!
    • They need wood pieces to chew on, to keep their teeth trimmed.
    • Your hamster needs to burrow, supply nesting material or a burrow-able bedding.
    • A sand bath for your hamster to roll in. NOT a dust bath.
    • Toilet paper rolls for him to chew on, crawl through and hide in.

    Nutrition
    • The current recommendations for feeding in captivity are specially formulated Hamster/Gerbil pelleted diets.
    • A lot of diets for hamsters/gerbils are based mainly of seed, removing some of the high fat sunflower
seeds and feeding them later as treats is a great way to bond withyour hamster and avoid hoarding.

    Water
    • Water can be supplied in a water bottle and should be changed daily.
    • Check the valve on the watter bottle daily to ensure it’s working properly.

    Health
Illnesses that may affect your hamster
    • Wet tail, dental problems, trauma, bladder stones, cancer, abscesses, salmonellas, rabies.

    Extra Information
    • The most popular hamster is the Syrian or golden hamster, these hamsters are solitary and territorial animals. They MUST be housed alone.
    • There are also Dwarf species of hamster which are more social and have the ability to be kept in pairs.
    • If choosing a dwarf species be sure the home you purchase has appropriate bar spacing so your new pet cannot escape between the bars.

    • Bedding material made of cotton are bad for your hamster it can pose a choking and tangling hazard.
    • Once a Syrian hamster is tame it will be tame for life.
    • A hamster’s life span is up to 4 years.
