Healthy chinese hamsters since Jan 08 we had no air cond. we had fans they were doing well till this 99 degree heat came. They were on the wheel in the am then dead in the afternoon. why now the kids are crying.
That is sad. I am sorry to hear that =( That happened to one of my rats several years ago. In the future, I suggest keeping them in a wire cage (assuming you had them in a glass aquarium) with a fan running nearby. Also, you can freeze a plastic water bottle and lay it in the cage so they can lay near it and cool off on super hot days.
Tell the children that it’s okay it happens things live and die and tell them that they will get new pets when the heat goes down!!

These hamsters were probably very healthy but exersize mixed with extreme heat causes death! Sorry!
