What do you do if your son wants to be Barbie for Halloween and asks for girls toys for Christmas?
Do you let him dress like Barbie and let him play with girl toys? Doesn’t this set him up for teasing and abuse by others even if you’re not ashamed of him? What is the right thing to do?

if hes just a little boy then its fine
but if your talking about a teenager then theres a problem

while hes young tell him the truth, tell him whats for his gender and tell him whats for girls ONLY

Let him be himself. You can’t try to stifle him into what society expects of him. If he wants to play with Barbies, who cares?

i think you should show him a bunch of boy costumes like spiderman or batman or something lik that and introduce him to a bunch of action figures and stuff because the way hes going he will definitely be abused and teased by other kids so even if its going to make him unhappy for a little bit now at least you are protecting him for the future.

My little boy wants to be a witch for Halloween. I’m not worried about it. Like my mom said, there’s tons of adult men who dress as women for halloween.

Try to talk him into a sparkly bright gender neutral costume for Halloween instead of Barbie. For toys, give him dolls but with a male twist. I don’t know your son’s age but for example check out Joey Magnetic Dress Up. It is a male doll that you can change outfits on to make him look like a super hero, a pirate, firefighter, policeman, etc. http://www.parentsbesttoys.com/Toy_Search_Dolls_and_Dollhouses.html If he is attracted to dollhouses and the like, consider getting him a fold and go fire station. It has two firemen and furniture inside. http://www.parentsbesttoys.com/Toy_Search_Dolls_and_Dollhouses_2.html
I am glad that you are not ashamed as your son is who he is. Try to find balance with male oriented toys with a softer side. Good luck!

Well my friend’s little boy likes getting his nails painted and makeup because of his big sissy =]. I wouldn’t worry about it until he got to the age of about 3. Then I would become worried. Its probably just a phase…
