What age can your baby hamsters be to hold them?

I have about two week old hamsters. Very cute, and im so tempted to hold them, but i don’t want the mother getting mad if she smells my scent and then kills the babies. How old must they be so the mother won’t care?

Two weeks, but make sure you wash your hands before holding them.

About two weeks, or so. It all depends on the mother. Wash your hands, and try placing your hands around the nest and see what mom does. Play with the bedding, touch one of the pups. If she doesn’t react aggressively, then go on ahead, but be careful and ALWAYS hold them over a bed, pillow, or soft blanket. They may jolt or suddenly jump for some reason. Have fun, baby hamsters are priceless!

You can hold them now, they have to be around 10 days old. When you pick them up, pet them nicely in front of the mother, that way she see’s that you will not harm them. I started holding mine when they were like 3 or 4 days old(I know that was too soon), I did it in front of the mother and she was fine with it, she never harmed the babies. Although one of the babies died at 13 days old because she was weak, they were born before time, it had nothing to do with me holding it.
